The 2025 grade 9 Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) officially comes to an end today, Monday, November 3, 2025, as candidates across the country sit for their final examinations in Social Studies and Religious Education.
The week-long national assessment, which kicked off last Monday, has been undertaken smoothly under tight supervision and enhanced security measures across all examination centres.
According to the timetable issued by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), today’s morning session began at 8:30 a.m. with Social Studies Paper 907, lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Candidates with special needs are undertaking the Braille version of the paper, which runs for 2 hours.
After a short break, candidates are sitting for their final Religious Education papers Christian Religious Education (CRE 908), Islamic Religious Education (IRE 909), and Hindu Religious Education (HRE 910).
The exams commenced at 11:00 a.m. and are expected to conclude between 12:30 p.m. and 1:00 p.m., depending on the paper.
The completion of the KJSEA marks a major milestone for learners, signaling the end of their three-year journey in junior school and paving the way for their transition to senior school in 2026.
This year, a total of 1,130,669 candidates sat for the KJSEA across the country.
According to the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), a total of 24,213 centre managers, 26,479 supervisors, and 125,492 invigilators were deployed to oversee both the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) .

KNEC also issued strict guidelines to safeguard the integrity of the exams.
The examination council instructed that all exam containers be opened at 6:00 a.m. each day for both KPSEA and KJSEA papers.
The body further banned mobile phones within examination centres and directed that all examination personnel must carry official identification for verification.
Supervisors were instructed to ensure that only authorised staff were allowed within exam venues and that each paper was opened strictly at the designated time.
