Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has issued a stern warning to individuals planning to corrupt the upcoming nationwide police recruitment, vowing that anyone caught giving or accepting bribes will face immediate arrest.
Speaking on Sunday during a church service at A.G.C. Kaboson in Bomet County, Murkomen emphasized that the government would enforce strict transparency and accountability measures during the exercise slated for November 17.
“We demand transparency and accountability. Those who are carrying money to bribe during the recruitment , we will arrest you,” he cautioned.
The Interior CS called on Kenyans to help safeguard the integrity of the process, urging communities to act as observers and report any cases of bribery.
“We want you, as local communities, to record anyone attempting to bribe and bring them to us. Let’s end this culture of corruption,” Murkomen said.
He added that the recruitment will be completed within a single day to minimize interference after physical and academic verifications.
Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja confirmed that the nationwide recruitment will take place simultaneously across all sub-counties, with teams already dispatched to ensure compliance with National Police Service (NPS) guidelines.
According to the NPS, the exercise aims to boost staffing levels within the Kenya Police Service, Administration Police Service, and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
Recruitment will be conducted across 422 designated centres, with applicants required to report to their venues by 8:00 a.m.
According to NPS ideal candidates should be Kenyan citizens aged 18–28, hold a valid national ID, and having at least a KCSE grade of D+, including a D+ in English or Kiswahili.
Candidates must also meet physical fitness standards minimum height of 5’8” for men and 5’3” for women and have no criminal record.
Female candidates must not be pregnant during recruitment or training, while NYS graduates who qualify are encouraged to apply, as their prior service will be considered an added advantage.
Application forms can be downloaded from official government websites or obtained from Huduma Centres. On the recruitment day, applicants must present original and photocopies of their academic certificates, ID, birth certificate, and, if applicable, their NYS discharge certificate rated at least “Good.”
