The speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula on Wednesday night announced the passing of Isiolo South MP Tubi Bidu Mohamed, calling it a deep loss for Parliament and the country.
The speaker announced that the legislator died at Nairobi Hospital this evening while undergoing treatment.
Until his passing, Tubi Bidu sat on the Departmental Committee on Environment, Forestry and Mining and also served on the Public Petitions Committee.
“It is with deep sorrow that I inform you and the nation of the demise of our esteemed colleague, the Member for Isiolo South Constituency, Tubi Bidu Mohamed, MP” Wetangula noted
Until his death, Tubi Bidu served on the Departmental Committee on Environment, Forestry and Mining, as well as the Public Petitions Committee.

He was serving his first term in the House. Before entering national politics, he became the first Speaker of the Isiolo County Assembly, a role he held until 2017.
As MPs mourned, Wetang’ula lauded the late lawmaker’s commitment and public service.
“As we grapple with this painful news, may we honour Tubi’s exemplary service and the difference he made for our nation. We extend our sympathies to his family, friends, constituents, and all who knew him,” he said, adding that more information would be communicated in due course.
Health CS Aden Duale also paid tribute, describing the MP as a respected elder and humble leader who served Isiolo South with dedication since his 2022 election.
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Today, our country—and especially Northern Kenya—mourns Hon. Mohamed Tubi, the Member for Isiolo South, who has passed on after a long illness,” Duale said.
“My deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the people of Isiolo South. May Allah show him mercy and grant his loved ones patience. Allah y rahmo (الله يْرَحْمو).”
According to official communications and family acknowledgments released late Wednesday, the MP died following a prolonged illness.
